About us & News

big tomato launched in 1999 with one product and one goal... to see a squirty tomato on every kitchen table in the UK. We have now sold over 500,000. To follow such an iconic product we ventured into ceramics and soon discovered our classic mug was as loved as the big tomato. We are dedicated to producing fun, contemporary and lasting tableware of quality & distinction.

How do you follow such an iconic product?

Well - we ventured into the ceramics game and soon discovered our classic mug was as loved as the tomato. Dedicated to quality and long-established methods of manufacturing in the UK, we follow in the footsteps of the Staffordshire potteries that made English ceramics famous the world over. In June 2009, we took the plunge and invested into our future by opening a factory in the heart of the Staffordshire Potteries; Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.

With three award-winning collections under our belt, we are proud of our achievements to-date and we continue the age-old tradition of commissioning and collaborating with Artists and Designers to produce English ceramics for a contemporary market. A background in antiques, a passion for English ceramics and a respect and appreciation of traditional craftsmanship, informed our love for authentic honest shapes. So from the start we made ceramics entirely in Stoke-on-Trent and launched our current back stamp in December 2004.

“We continue to champion home grown expertise in design and manufacturing within the ceramics industry, very much aware of how fragile this heritage is.”
